The seminar was a success and we owe it to one and all presented papers and contributed towards its accomplishment in one-way or another. We wish you well for making the Information and Communication Technology improve in Papua New Guinea.
The first seminar conducted for the Papua New Guinea Computer Society (PNGCS) was conducted at the Gateway Hotel on Wednesday, 18th April, 2007.
There were two topics discussed at the seminar: (1) The Internet Services in PNG and (2) the Virtual Private Network (VPN) presented respectively by Mr. Sundar Ramamoorthy (founder of Data Nets) and Mr. Mudassir (Lecturer—IBS).
The former being about the pros and cons of the internet and its impact on PNG. VPN gave us an insight to communication links within networking systems.
There were a number of students from the Institute of Business Studies who are currently taking the Diploma in Information Technology and various representatives from IT businesses. On a student’s point of view, the seminar was an amazing experience. These issues were addressed in our Computer Communication lectures. We are now able to relate theory to an abstract of practicality.
